Hello, the eligibility criteria for the lateral entry is that the student must have passed with required percentage in the field or related to the one which you want to pursue your engineering degree on. After commerce your option will be narrowed if you want to pursue engineering there are only less number of diploma courses you can do to pursue engineering. You should check with the lateral entry offering institute's eligibility requirement first and then choose your diploma degree.

If you want to pursue Diploma in any Engineering branch you must have have passed class 10th with Mathematics and Science mandatory subjects from a recognised board. There is no lateral admission in to Diploma after studying class 12th. You will get admission in to B.E/ B.Tech 2nd year through lateral admission after passing in Diploma in Engineering from a recognised board. Few states conduct entrance exam for lateral entry and few states considers the marks scored in Diploma in Engineering for admission in to B.E/ B.Tech through lateral entry.
