Yes ofcourse you can get jobs in PSUs through GATR even if you have completed B.tech in mechanical engineering in 5 years. There is no restriction on that part. You have to provide a good answer during the interview regarding the year gap situation. If the board is satisfied with your answer there will be no problem with your job recruitment

Sir, in some FAQs of PSUs like GAIL,.it is directly written that only 4 -year B.Tech course is allowed.

What that is supposed to mean is that you should have a 4 years degree in B.tech but it doesn't say only. It can be 4 years or more. They dont want a 4th year student giving the exam.
