To be honest with you it is very difficult to secure a rank of 500 if you start from basic now because this is the exam which is considered to be the toughest examination.

I would recommend you to strategically prepare for the examination because even if you prepare with smart work you would be able to secure a decent rank . But these things differs from person to person . You can get a good rank depending on your consistency and how serious are you with your preparation.

I would suggest you to focus on previous years rather than solving some random books.
