Actually it totally depends on which year you are in....

If you are in second/third year then studying for 6/8 hours per week is more then enough. Here you have ample of time to prepare each subjects and to make self notes and getting your doubt clear & to do lots of practice.

& if you are in final year then, the only thing which changes is your intensity to concentrate.

A final year student can manage at least 4 hours each day without disturbing any daily routine.

The best time to study I would suggest to study in morning. The earlier you wake up the more time you get to study.
