Yes you can absolutely become a maths lecturer at first, then professor, after completing your M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.

For being eligible for a job as lecturer, and to sit for an interview at various colleges, you have to apear NET (Natinal Eligibility Test) and clear it. Prepare for the exam after your M.Tech or while being in the final year.
