Students prefer to do post graduate in some topic that is one of the subjects in their under graduate like if i do my ug in evs , i would like to do my pg in environmental and water science management.

But, its totally fine.

Yes you can definitely do that and that would be a great course as very few people does this so you can easily get a good job in government industries and various private industries as every one produces dust and smoke you can work in labs for them
You can work for csir meteorology lab you can be in Weather forecasting  department and you will have a great time and scope outside India as you will be respected so much and paid well also
