Mechatronics Engineering is really a blooming field right now in the industry since it combines both Electronics and Mechanical knowledge. Though in the present it may seem like it has not got much value, but there are lots of companies wanting mechatronics engineer and in future it is going to be a major field. So yes, the future of Mechatronics is very good and it’s a field of job any engineer would want to be in presently. 

The scope of getting a job in india itself is difficult. Job wise - Not good in Government Sector. Better in Private Sector.

Research wise - Very good at both National and International Levels.

Also, should you really wish to do MS in Mechatronics then Germany is the best place you should be doing at! The need for Mechatronics Engineers is really high in there. The opportunities in tamilnadu is less but would gradually increase if there is demand in the market.
