Well as per my knowledge
Total score is considered but when you get a clash of marks with any other candidate for rank like 200,
those who get more in physics will be given first place (200) and next rank to the other(201)

You don't "have to" score good marks in all subjects. For instance, I have a friend who scored 110 in maths, 115 in physics but only 33 in chemistry. He is currently studying at IIIT Hyderabad.

So it depends largely on your interests and the subject you are comfortable with.

With that said, you should try and do balance study if you are not overly interested and comfortable in one or two subjects.
