If you are motivated and dedicated enough that you will get into NITs next year at any cost and you will give your 100 percent for than without a doubt you can take drop and you are the one who had make sure that you can will make count of every day throughout this year and after you will achieve what you aimed then it will be worth it.

Of you are really fully focused on top NIT then no problem you can drop one year . It doesn't create any problem in college in placement  time of counseling .
