No, you do not need to give up your seat in any any of the rounds. But your seat will be automatically upgraded according to your choice. In counselling process the target is to reach the peak of your choice.

Suppose you get third choice of your list in first round. In second round if you are eligible to get the second choice, your seat will be automatically upgraded to that choice.
