For a career in Aerospace Engineering or perhaps any Mechanical Sciences, your basic concepts in Physics and Mechanics should be strong enough. Besides Mechanics, Mathematics, Calculus and Aptitude as well as your Thermodynamics, Kinetics and Equilibrium in Chemistry should be on the stronger side. Hello Aspirant,

Well I can suggest some chapters that will help you build some concepts for future.

  • MATHEMATICS-Calculus(Differentiation,Integration,Mean value Theorem,Partial derivatives,Differential Equations)
  • PHYSICS- Aerodynamics,Fluids,Thermodynamics,Stress and Strain.

Hope this will help

Regards

Hi Anamika,

Aerospace is special branch of mechanical where the physics of flying is mainly focused.

Following are the key subjects that differs a aero Engineer from mechanical,

Aero structures

Aero Propulsion

Flight Mechanics

Aerodynamics

Space Mechanics

Including these, few common subjects like mathematics, engineering drawing , basic electronics etc and some core like electives aircraft systems, airport planning etc and general electives like optimization, nano tech and many will be available depending on university you choose.. but the main subjects listed above are the core subjects of an aero engineer.

In my opinion those core subjects were greatly understood when you get basic knowledge of mechanical subjects like Thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, engineering mechanics, strength of materials. These subjects are really vast where a mechanical guy spend most of his engineering course studying them. Many of universities cover these subjects by third semester so that they can jump into aero domain.

I suggest for those who wanna persue aerospace, spend much of your time to get basic knowledge of mechanical subjects with as much as deep understanding you can get and then when you go for aero subjects it reduces the complexity of many concepts.
Thank you!!
