What is Aerospace Engineering

The engineering branch, Aerospace Engineering inculcates the skills and knowledge to design, manufacture and maintain spacecraft, missiles and weapons systems. Aerospace Engineering deals with two major and overlapping branches- Aeronautical Engineering and Astronautical Engineering. Eligibility Criteria (UG & PG) of Aerospace Engineering

Eligibility Criteria for Aerospace Engineering
Diploma in Aerospace Engineering: Candidates should pass class 10th exam with science and math as the compulsory subjects. Students must have 50% marks for the general category and 45 percent marks for the reserved category.

B.Tech in Aerospace Engineering: The basic educational criteria requires passing class XII or higher secondary in science stream with a minimum of 60% marks for general category and 55% for the reserved ones. They are also required to appear for the entrance exam like JEE Main and JEE Advanced.

M.Tech in Aerospace Engineering: Candidates need to qualify their Bachelors degree in B.Tech/ B.E. in Aerospace Engineering with minimum 60% marks for general category and 55% marks for the reserved category. Also, aspirants need to appear and qualify GATE in order to get admission into premier institutes like IITs. 

Admission Process for Aerospace Engineering

  • For Diploma in Aerospace Engineering: Most institutes admit the students based on their performance in relevant entrance exams. Admission process generally varies across colleges. A few institutes also provide direct admission to the students based on their performance in class X.

  • For B.Tech in Aerospace Engineering: There are two types of processes that candidates can opt for to get admission in B.Tech Aerospace Engineering: entrance examinations (JEE Main and JEE Advanced) or direct admission. To get admission in the major institutes of India, applicants need to qualify entrance exams such as JEE Main and JEE Advanced. Direct admission is done on the basis of the marks scored by students in class 12th.

  • For M.Tech in Aerospace Engineering: Aspirants are required to have a Bachelor’s degree in B.Tech aerospace engineering with a minimum aggregate of 60%. Direct admission in IITs (Indian Institute of Technology) is regulated on the basis of marks achieved by candidates in GATE.

As you mentioned that you are in 2nd in diploma ece and now you want to join aerospace engineering and that after completing your ece . I would recommend you that you can do but there is no use joining and completing your graduation again and that too in a diffrent branch.

So it's difficult for you to get admission in IEST.

Aerospace Engineering includes designing and building machines that fly. This branch of engineering came into existence in the 19th century. With technology evolution, Aerospace Engineering developed in designing aircraft such as powered lighter aircraft, fixed-wing airplanes, autogyros, helicopters, gliders, and jets. Most Aerospace Engineers work in governmental agencies and manufacturing industries but very few of them get the chance to work at the International Space Station like NASA.

Aerospace engineers design spacecraft, missiles, and different types of weapons; they also assemble, maintain, & ensure that they function properly. There are two type of specialized courses such as

  1. Aeronautical Engineer, who works on aircraft and their components

  2. Astronomical Engineer, who works specifically on spacecraft and related technologies
