Whether you need coaching or depends on you have studied in your 1st three semester or not.Because the level of mathematics question asked in the GATE exam is similar to your syllabus of the mathematics of Graduation.If you have studied in the graduation well then you don't have to take admission  in any coaching center for Mathematics.

Question depends on your preparation level and the style of your study for someone without coaching I can cover all the concepts and do well in the exam and for someone coaching is necessary.

Based on your needs if you can do self study and have good understanding of graduate level mathematics then you don't need to go for a coaching but without coaching a don't able to understood the concepts then it is good choice if you can.
