Karnataka State Open University offers b.tech courses, admission can be possible to   4 years b.tech courses as well as lateral entry admission to b.tech course which is of three years duration. so the year of study you have mentioned is three years, so In case you have taken admission after completing diploma, to b.tech course through lateral entry, 3 years b.tech course in valid.

however for students who has joined b.tech after completing 12th must have completed 4 years course to obtain the degree certificate.
