With your score of 42 marks it is not possible to get into PSUs as the average cutoff of the PSUs is 55 to 60. So PSU option is shot down. If you are very much interested into going into PSU then you will have to answer again next year GATE.
Second option for you is to pursue higher studies. You have got good enough marks to get into any state run colleges. But you will not get into IIT or NIT. You can also try for private university, some private university offer admission based on GATE score. And also since you are GATE qualified, AICTE will provide you a scholarship of 12400/- per month for the period of 2 years.
Third option is to get a post of Project Assisatnt. Many IITs and IISc hire GATE qualified student as a JRF. You will be paid 25k monthly.
