Hello ,there,Can a Computer science student pursuing his/her btech are eligible to apply IIT-JAM ? 1.if yes then which subject should a CS student choose either mathematics or ...anything?? please answer me....

Hello,

The eligibility criteria to apply for IIT-JAM is that a candidate must have passed in the qualifying exam with minimum 55% aggregate or 5.5 CGPA on 10 point scale for candidates belonging to General/OBC category. For SC/ST/OBC it is 50% aggregate marks or 5.0 CGPA on a 10 point scale. This is the general eligibility criteria that you need to fulfill. For each course the eligibility criteria is different. If you have fulfilled the given general eligibility criteria then you are eligible for the following courses

  • M.Sc Astronomy: Candidates must have passed bachelors degree in Physics/ Mathematics /Computer Science Engineering, Electrical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering
  • M.Sc: Physics: Candidates who have passed in B.E/B.Tech in any discipline are eligible
  • Joint M.Sc.- Ph.D. in Physics: Candidates who have passed in B.E/B.Tech in any discipline are eligible
  • M.Sc.- Ph.D. Dual Degree in Physics: Candidates who have passed in B.E/B.Tech in any discipline are eligible
  • M.Sc. Applied Statistics and Informatics: Candidates must have studied Mathematics or statistics for two year/four semesters
  • M.Sc. Mathematics and Computing/M.Sc. Mathematics and Statistics : Candidates must have studied Mathematics for two year/four semesters
  • M.Sc. Mathematics: Candidates must have studied Mathematics for two year/four semesters
  • Joint M.Sc.- Ph.D. in Mathematics: Candidates must have studied Mathematics for two year/four semesters
  • M.Sc.-M.Tech. Dual Degree in Mathematics-Data and Computational Sciences: Candidates must have studied Mathematics for two year/four semesters
  • M.Sc. in Economics: Candidates must have passed B.A./B.Sc./ B.Com/ B.Stat./B.Math./ B.Tech/B.E. or equivalent after 10+2

Note that you are eligible for admission to M.Sc.-M.Tech. Dual Degree in Mathematics-Data and Computational Sciences, Joint M.Sc.- Ph.D. in Mathematics, M.Sc. Mathematics, M.Sc. Mathematics and Computing, M.Sc. Mathematics and Statistics if you have studied Mathematics for two years or four semesters in B.Tech level and for M.Sc. Applied Statistics and Informatics you are eligible if you have studied Mathematics or Statistics for two years or four semesters in B.Tech level otherwise you are not eligible for these courses. In that case you are eligible for the rest of the courses mentioned other than these courses.
