Dear Student,

CLAT stands for Common Law Admission Test.

This exam held every year, this year this exam is conducted by National Law University Odisha. It's a national level exam.

EXAM PATTERN:

English:40

Legal Aptitude:50

Logical Reasoning:40

Go and Current Affairs:50

Elementary mathematics and numerical ability:20

Total questions: 200

Total marks - 200

For every correct answer candidates will be awarded 1mark and for every incorrect answer candidates will get a penalty of 0.25.

Now coming to query,

You have to prepare it by solving as many previous year question papers also you have to work on your aptitude  because it's is bit logical and requires practice. And for current affairs and GK prepare from capsule courses that are available online and prepare GK and current affairs of last 6 months.

Hello Rushika, Try to follow the following tips along with your own self-studies:

Understand the syllabus distribution- try to understand the syllabus distribution in CLAT exam and try to understand which chapters have a high weightage in the exam.

Focus on Legal Aptitude- The past 8 years of CLAT papers and questions typically tend to come from just 4 major areas: Criminal Law, Law of Tort, Contract Act and Indian Constitution

GK/Current Affairs Syllabus- you need to have knowledge about what's happening in the world. for example, the bills being passed by the government, policies being passed, verdicts being passed by the supreme court, etc.

Writing Mock Tests- you need to know what does it feel like to give an exam under limited time.

Do not neglect English- Being strong in Reading Comprehension and basic grammar will take you a long way in the English section. Many students tend to ignore the section because they find it rather simple.

Hello Aspirant,

To begin with, you need to learn time management well. Solve numerical problems up to Standard 12 level. Focus on legal aptitude. Be updated with current affairs and static General Knowledge. Do not waste time on a single question in case you are stuck. Assess your performance periodically. Aim to be accurate in solving mathematical problems. Ameliorate your language and prepare well for English comprehension.

Hope this helps you :)

Hi Rushika,

You can prepare for CLAT easily without affecting your studies at all because ultimately what you are studying will come in CLAT too. You can join a reputed coaching institution for preparation or can read the article given in the link below for studying for both, school as well as for CLAT.
