Hello Aspirant

Masters in Social Work is a great course to pursue if one has a keen interest in it. It is a masters course that is a full-time two-year-long course.

Masters in Social Work provides individuals with the theoretical as well as the field knowledge about social work and its functioning.

Generally, the recruiters of graduates of this course are -

1. Various departments of the government

2. Non-Profit Organizations

3. Corporates (CSR Component)

4. Another option is to start one's own NGO or Service-oriented institute.

This course has shown a lot of growth over the years. The intake strength of this course across the colleges of the country has shown a rise.

Now, coming to the specializations.

One major factor to consider here is your interest. Whatever specification you choose, if you're interested in it, then you can achieve success in that particular field.

MSW -HR

This course focuses on the human resources aspect. This course has received a lot of attention but this course faces strong competition with MBA HR. The market for this course is very competitive as individuals who have done either MA in Human Resource Management or MBA HR are also a part of the competition. This specialization should be chosen if one wants to enter the corporate sector. The major recruiters here are MNCs.

MSW Community Development

This course focuses upon the components, structure, formation of the community. The market for this course is expanding. Especially in India, the future market of this course is wide. It is advised to indulge in this course only if you are interested in it. The recruiters are mostly NGOs or Government departments. Many students also indulge in short-term projects after completion of this course.

Thus, overall the market is very receptive to both the courses. MSW Community Development is comparatively a better choice as the field is growing rapidly in India. Even big corporate names are picking up students with this course to carry out their CSR projects and to work upon their own projects for the company expansion.

The placements are decent for both the courses. Placements also differ according to the institute that you have chosen.

I hope I have answered your question.

Please leave any query in the comment section.

Thank You
