GATE exams are not necessary to be given for getting government jobs but scoring good marks in GATE gives you more job related opportunities and better expore or placements so directly it is useful for you to give GATE exams for getting government jobs. Hope you find it useful.

A lot of public sector undertaking (PSUs) use GATE score for shortlist candidate for employment. More than 50 PSU's recruit graduate engineers using their score in GATE exam.
