NIT Surathkal was established in 2002 and was formerly known as Karnataka Regional Engineering College (KREC). It is one of the thirty-two National Institute of Technology in India and also recognised as Institute of National Importance by the Government of India.  Studying Mechanical Engineering in NITK is a very good option. I will share few of my experiences in the department and in the college.

About Placements:

Compared to all NIT's, NIT Karnataka is best in placements statistics wise. You can get all the placements data on the college website.

Library:

There is a central library facility where you can find a lot of reference books, articles.

College selection may depend on several factors like your region,ranks, etc. students of NITK Surathkal during this placement year got good placements. In my point of view Mechanical engineering is good in NITK. In NITS surathakal and trichy is the best option for mechanical students.

The placements in mechanical branch is very good . Many companies have visited this college . The medium package offered was 7-9 lakh and teh highest package was 21-24 lakh . So , it's a very good college for pursuing Mechanical branch .
