Not quite well bro..

This year only6got placed out of12in power electronics and12out of19in power system(not all placed in core). But companies like Texas and qualcomm (for power electronics) visited for campus placement and offered 16 lpa but none of the student able to crack the interviews. Tata motors (9 lpa) and Siemens (6 lpa) were some of good companies. But you also get the advantage of IIT campus as a large number of companies do visits campus every year for different profile (e.g. coding, management, universities for teaching profile, consultancies and allows both the branches). But yes core placement is very less. Opportunities are here in core too but depends on your current knowledge as competition is there.

Further if u are confused between power system and power electronics, ill suggest u to opt for power electronics (if you serious about M.Tech.). Power system is almost saturated. New research is there in power electronics and its very interesting. Of course chances in govt. sector is slightly greater for power system specialization
