Chemical engineering is amongst the best departments in Jadavpur. It can be compared with the top NITs and few IIT's.

Its placement scenario is also very good, above standards in terms of pay package and career prospects. The companies come for placements are Cairn India, Berger Paints, Fluor Daniel, UOP Honeywell, Haldia Petrochemical, Axens, ITC, BPCL and the placement package ranges from 6lpa-17lpa for core companies. Other than these, Vedanta Resources (8-9 lpa), Reliance chemical industries (6lpa), ZS Associates (8-10 lpa), Thermax(7lpa),HPL(6lpa),Hindustan Unilever (8lpa). These are mainly the companies which come for the placements, there can be few others also. Other than these there are MRC ‘S ( Mass recruiting companies) which offer a pay package of 3.2-3.5lpa.
