Hello, in Jadavpur University some departments conduct their own entrance examinations, which might not be dependent on your HS results. However, JU's cutoffs for Arts and Science subjects mainly range from 480 to 495, and Engineering admission depends on the WBJEE rank, and not on HS results. Hope this helps!

Based on the WBJEE 2024 data, scoring 110 or 105 marks would likely place you in the rank range of approximately 10,001 to 15,000, as per the expected marks vs. rank analysis .

For admission to the Information Technology (IT) department at Jadavpur University, the cutoff ranks are quite competitive. In 2024, the closing rank for IT was around 295 for the open category . This suggests that candidates needed to secure a rank within the top 300 to gain admission into the IT program.

Given this information, with a score of 110 or 105, it would be challenging to secure a seat in the IT department at Jadavpur University under the general category. However, cutoff ranks can vary each year based on factors like the number of applicants, exam difficulty, and seat availability.

If you belong to a reserved category, the cutoff ranks might be slightly relaxed, but the competition remains high. It's advisable to aim for a higher score to increase your chances of admission into the IT department.

Hey:)

Thanks for reaching out!

With a WBJEE rank of 22,259 and an SC rank of 1,996 you have a good chance of getting into Jadavpur University if you are a West Bengal domicile. If you are a WB domicile then your SC rank becomes the deciding factor, and based on last year's cutoff, your rank is within the range for branches like ECE, IT, electrical, mechanical, chemical and civil but it is not enough for computer science. If your not a West Bengal domicile, then, only your GMR will be considered and 22,259 is much higher than all India closing ranks. so,admission at Jadavpur is very unlikely.

In short, your admission depends mainly on your domicile status, however, keep some backup options for safety .

Hello

Thank You!!!

With a General Merit Rank (GMR) of 44,129 and a Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) rank of 10,786 as an ST category student from West Bengal, it is unlikely that you will secure admission to Mechanical Engineering at Jadavpur University.

Jadavpur University is highly competitive, and the cutoff ranks for Mechanical Engineering, especially through TFW and reserved categories, usually fall much lower than these ranks. Mechanical Engineering cutoffs for TFW candidates are often within the top few thousand ranks, typically under 3,000–5,000, and even the reserved category general merit cutoff tends to be significantly lower than 44,000 for Mechanical Engineering.

However, you might explore other government or private engineering colleges in West Bengal where your rank and category may provide better chances for Mechanical Engineering admission.

Yes, with a SC rank of 2500 and West Bengal domicile, you have a good chance to get into Jadavpur University through WBJEE counselling. Jadavpur’s SC category cut-offs for core branches (CSE, IT, ECE) usually close much lower (within SC 500–1500), but for branches like Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical, Production, etc., SC rank up to 3000–4000 has been admitted in previous years.

So, while CSE/IT may be tough, you can realistically expect core and other engineering branches at JU.

College Infrastructure

The college infrastructure is old and not so modern, it needs a lot of improvements. Buildings have old styled classrooms, only a few of them have air conditioning. Labs have lesser equipments and need more for smooth running. Sports centres are well equipped . Hostel facilities are cheap and good and secure. Modifications is always continuing and maintenance is going on. But the other things makeup for this.

It is the best college
