Well I personally won;t recommend you to aim for preparatory course.

As passing in the preparatory course is not that easy as it seems.

I would recommend you to have an aim of carcking adecent IIT with decent marks.

So with the paper, I would say anythin above 90 would be enough for a PwD candidate to grab a full fledged seat at IIT.
