To get selected in top 10 IIMs, your past academic profile matters. Also your other selection rounds matters like GD/PI and WAT rounds along with CAT percentile.

The selection criteria in all the IIM's varies. And the percentile requirement may also vary.

It also depends upon your caste category.

In general, if you have a good past academic record and you get a percentile above 98.6-99.6 in CAT then you have chances in top 10IIMs.

You can even check the cutoff for top IIMs here with the selection criteria details.

Good luck.

It would be difficult to guide you in terms of marks, but if attempted 70% paper with accuracy-approx can lead you the above mentioned percentile.

In previous years, the trend has remained the same and is most likely less to change. So keeping this perspective in mind the percentile will remain the name approx.
So you should aim and prepare accordingly.

See you know that in CAT exam you will be evaluated on the percentile basis not on the percentage of marks you scored. It's a totally relative phenomenon, your percentile not only depends on your performance but also on the performance of other students appearing for CAT exam along with you.

For getting a call from any of the IIMs you not only need a good percentile but an overall good profile as after the CAT exam every IIM makes a merit list based on your aggregate score which comprises of many factors such as CAT marks, 10th 12th and graduation percentage, work experience, engineer or non engineer, gender with different weightages for different IIMs. So you can see that your merit rank depends also on many other factors but in most of the IIMs CAT marks have highest weightage.

Seeing the past year records for getting in top 3 IIMs i.e. IIM A, B and C you need to score atleast above 99.67 percentile. For other old IIMs like IIM L, K and I you need to score atleast above 98 percentile. With 95+ percentile and a decent profile you can get calls from all New IIMs.

It's very hard to predict with how much you can get how much marks in CAT 2017 exam but still to be in a safer side aim for scoring 190+ marks in the exam. That will definitely get you a good percentile maybe 98-99 and that will definitely open up a lot of doors for you.

All the best!!
