Based on previous year cut-offs, for General category you should aim for around 105–115 marks in JEE Main to get a seat in any NIT in any branch. For top branches like CSE or ECE, try to score 115 marks or more for better chances.

To get admission in any NIT for any branch through JEE Main the marks depend upon your category and number of applicants.
If you belong to general category then 92-95% are required, If you belong to OBC category then 88-90% are required and if you belong to SC/ST category then 70-80% makes are required. Popular branches like Computer Science and Electronics in top NITs require much higher scores often above 98 percentile while branches like Civil, Metallurgy, or Biotechnology have lower cut-offs.
