There are approximately 80,000 MBBS seats and approximately 41,388 are Government Medical College seats. AIIMS and JIPMER will add another 1107 seats to the existing number. All these are filled through Constitutional reservations. It cannot be said exactly in number as to how many seats are for General Category because this number also includes State MBBS seats and each State has a different reservation policy. To calculate, is a tad difficult.
