Over 60000 medical seats are available in the country for MBBS and BDS courses. With such growing popularity, medical aspirants, who are for this national level medical entrance examination, are ought to face a tough competition. For every single seat, a student has to outdo 22 competitors. NEET 2018 will be held on May 6 in various centres across the country.

This year, around 13,36,000 candidates have applied for the pre-medical and dental examination. There are 66,000 seats are on offer for the admission in government, government-aided and private colleges. Last year, around 11.5 candidates had enrolled for the NEET 2017 exam.

This year,according to the officials of cbse, 13.86 lakhs students are participating in neet ug exam.
Since in some colleges/universities the seats are to be increased. So there is no fixed number of seats.you have to wait till counselling process, to know exact number of seats.

Let me tell you in round figures for ease.
So, there are about 60,000 medical seats in India and total candidates applying for the is around 13 to 15 lakhs. However, government seats are lesser. Out of total 60,000 only about 25,000 are government seats.
