The number of registered candidates for NEET 2019 was reported at 15.19 lakh by the Times of India. In comparison, the number of registered candidates for NEET 2018 was 13.26 lakh. This year there was a marked 14.4% rise in applicants since last year.

The primary reason for this phenomenal rise in number of students is the decision of the Supreme Court to allow the candidates above 25 years of age to apply for the NEET UG 2019.
