There are approximately 268 Government Medical Colleges in India. These carry approximately 45000-50,000 MBBS seats. And 15% of these seats are filled through All India Counselling and the rest 85% of the seats are filled through State Counselling. These seats are filled following Constitutional reservations. This number doesn't include the newly released Medical Colleges for this year because the details have not been released officially yet. And NEET is the entrance examination for admission to MBBS in all these colleges.
