The National Eligibility Test (NET), also known as UGC NET or NTA-UGC-NET, is the test for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the Eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship(JRF) and Eligibility for Assistant Professor both in Indian universities and colleges. It aims to ensure minimum standards for the entrants in teaching professions and research. It has been reiteratively termed to be one of the toughest examinations in India, where it's passing percentage amounting to only 3-6% per each session. The Assitant Professor in universities & government colleges is governed under 7th pay Commission with entry pay of ₹ 57,700 excluding HRA, DA and other allowances making it one of the highest paying government job with 3% of annual increment.
UGC NET exam is consists of 2 papers :
Paper 1 is same for all the candidates. It is given to assess the teaching and research aptitude for any one which consists of reasoning, comprehension, divergent thinking, etc.
There are 94 in which paper 2 is conducted which are taken up according to someone's post graduation subject only.
