I have seen hundreds of aspirants through GATE. Honestly, it doesn't matter much. What matters more is that if you have taken a couple of years to prepare for the exam, you should also have gained significant maturity during those years which would differentiate you from other freshers. I see candidates turning up for interviews late and without filling up the documents. Trust me this kind of immaturity hampers your chances for selection more than anything else.
