hi there,

As per your query,

Now a days the sociological studies are done in more data correlated way.

So when you want to be a  assistant professor then you  may not need that much of computer knowledge but if the syllabus changes and  data interpretation techniques using  programming is introduced in the syllabus of sociology then you will need to know about the computer .

You  must have known all the basics of computer .

I will always recommended knowing the computer skills can be easily helpful for future also, so if you  invest some time in  this then in future you will get the feedback in future.
