Hey there,

To get an admission in any IIT you need to score really good in the JEE advance exam. But to give JEE advance, you need to qualify JEE mains first. JEE mains is conducted in two shifts. One in January and other in April. The best of these two will be your accountable result.

Now after qualifying JEE mains , you'll be allowed to give JEE advance. For getting a seat in IIT, your advance rank will be applicable only.

For admission, after you get your advance rank, you need to apply through JOSAA counseling for an IIT seat. Based on the merit list you'll be allocated a branch from your preferences. And than you will have to go to your allocated counseling center for the verification of your documents.

Hope this helps and all the best!
