There is an increase in number of engineers clearing UPSC not because it gives an edge in the exam but due to the fact that a looott of people are going for BTech.
So don't go for BTech if you are not interested.
Go for the subject that you are actually interested in and could also potentially serve as a safe back up

engineering is surely the go-to stream, if you want to not only crack the civil services examination but also emerge among the top ranking candidates to be eligible for the IAS posts. This graduation helps you to become IAS officer .
