It depends on your current studies and interest and the future aspect of the field in which you want to pursue your further studies and research.

Since you are currently pursuing ece, it is now up to you that in which field ddo you want to pursue your mtech. Doing mtech in cse can also help you in finding the research and the new aspects of the software engineering.

Pursuing cse in ai and ml is also a new and emerging option to explore your future chances of working in this field since it has a very wide range in the upcoming future.

So you should appear for the gate exam in cse with ai and ml stream which will also help you in following your passion and explore the opportunities also.
