IITs have a preparatory course for the students belonging to communities which are backwards on academic grounds. Considering the fact that these students might not have had the kind of support or environment required to crack JEE, these students deserve a chance to join the mainstream of countrys educational opportunities.

If there is vacant seat in the sc category after counselling then students of sc are taken into preparatory course in IIT and they study there and have to give exam.If they pass that exam then they got admission in 1st year of engineering
