Hello,
If you use your preparatory rank then you can join IITs. If you have qualified the cutoff for the JEE Advance preparatory then you apply for it. Even go for counseling as you can't take risk if you will get an admission at IIT or not. Better to look for your chances... If you are assured that you can get an IIT then JEE Advance preparatory rank will be a better choice.
