You need to have a minimum of 75% in boards if are non-sc/st candidate.
If you are sc/st you need 65%+ in boards.
If you qualify the above case, then with 196 marks you have very less chances of getting admission in nit trichy.

i think you're not eligible for nit,trichy.since you're having 71% in your +2 board examination.the top nit's need the candidates should have atleast 75% in their board exams.you can check it out with this link,
