You have done pretty well considering your rank By scoring this much rank, you will definitely crack NITs with your favourable branch.

In order to crack IITs, you need to clear JEE advanced and you are even eligible for appearing in JEE advanced. Another criteria to get into IITs is that you should have passed 10+2with aggregate of or above 75% marks. 

Now, it solely depends upon you whether you want NIT or IIT. Both are very great institutes with great campuses, teching facultires and diversed students.

I would suggest you to also prepare for JEE advanced so as to increase your prospects by getting into an elite IIT.
