68 percentile is not a good marks in JEE mains. If you starts your preparation for JEE then you have to work hard.
So if you are interested for Nit or IIT tag then you should start your preparation for JEE mains 2020. Otherwise you should take admission in any private engineering college

We understand your concern. The answer to your question totally depends on you, with a percentile of 68 you will as of now not be able to join any of the IITs or NITs. If your ultimate aim is to join them, you should consider dropping a year. But, if you are satisfied with any other college which you get under the JOSSA counselling then please dont drop a year as this is not the end of the world. You can work hard during your college and that is what matters. Take a wise decision.All the best!
