You cannot really compare individual branches to be honest. however , comparing both the colleges academically overall might give you an idea or two about which one is better .

It actually depends on how you look at it and what aspects you are considering.

If you're one of those who wants to study hard ,get good grades ,excel academically overall , sastra is the place to be. Sastra is better academically and beats gitam in terms of reputation overall.

But if you are one of those people who are laid back , casual , just not that much into academics , then gitam is the college you'd want to choose. Being a gitam student myself ,I can assure you that you'll have the time of your life at gitam . There are a lot of places where you can enjoy yourself ,forget all your problems and just live in the moment. Moreover, a lot of beaches , hill stations ,resorts in and around Vizag will keep you busy during the weekends.

As far as job prospects and placements are concerned, most of the gitam students at the end of the day get placed in IT companies irrespective of branch.So if you are one of those that wants to stick with your core knowledge later on , I suggest you go for Sastra.
