I have 95% in 10th, 90 in 12th and 7.6 CGPA in B.Tech, 3 month work experience (not sure if it's useful). I'm looking for good MBA colleges.

Hi Aspirant,

Your marks in all of your academic career is good enough.

What matters is how much you can score in your MBA entrance examinations. The higher you score, the better chances you have to make it to some of the best B-Schools of the country.

As per the cutoffs are concerned, even top B-Schools are often variable in their nature.

In a very surprising move, IIM Ahmedabad, ranked #1 among MBA colleges, shortlisted last year 182 candidates with below 90 percentile for final admission round of PGP 2018-20 batch to improve diversity in its class rooms. One of such shortlisted candidates in General category had scored 81.53 percentile in CAT but was shortlisted by IIM Ahmedabad.

So,options are plenty and if your marks aren't good enough to get you through, then having exceptional extra co-curriculars does help. Also, work experience can prove to be very useful. So, prepare well.

Hope this helps.

Its really nice to see the confidence that is displayed in your question. See proper and timely preparation only helps making your chances better. There can be many factors that come into play when we talk of getting shortlists for IIMs.
1. X, XII, graduation marks: pretty good in your case
2. Work Ex: 3 months are decent if you get a good percentile
3. CAT Percentile: this maybe an issue because you being an engineer you may need to work hard to get above 90 percentile to make sure that you'll be shortlisted.
In addition  to that there are multiple exams that you can write that give you admission to various good colleges like : CAT, SNAP, IIFT, XAT
A good percentile in these exams is very useful as they can be your way to get into good colleges.

I trying (with my standards) every single day from September 15. I'm striving towards the top 25 b schools, not more. Anything from 25 is not good enough as everyone knows. I'm starting to think even 3 months is not enough let alone 2 months. For the other exams (including MAT which I scored very well), either the preparation time was enough or exam was easy enough. CAT is a totally different story as such. Thanks for the comment
