In most universities and entrance-based postgraduate programmes, Mathematics at the 10+2 level is treated differently from Mathematics studied at the graduation level, so this distinction is very important in your case.

Since you have completed B. Com in Information Technology without Mathematics in Class 11 and 12, your eligibility will depend entirely on the specific course and university you are applying to. In general, subjects like Business Statistics or Quantitative Techniques studied for one semester during graduation are not considered equivalent to compulsory Mathematics at the 10+2 level. Many technical and science-oriented postgraduate courses clearly mention “Mathematics at 10+2 level” as a mandatory requirement, and in such cases, Business Statistics alone will not fulfil this condition.

However, for some management, commerce, or interdisciplinary programmes, universities may accept Mathematics or Statistics studied during graduation, especially if it is clearly mentioned in the eligibility criteria as “Mathematics/Statistics at graduation level.” In these cases, your Business Statistics subject can help, provided it appears on your marksheet and syllabus.

For courses like MCA, MSc Computer Science, MSc Data Science, or similar programmes, most universities strictly require Mathematics in Class 12, and graduation-level statistics is usually not accepted as a substitute. On the other hand, for MBA, M. Com, MSc Economics, or applied social science programmes, your academic background may still be acceptable.

The best approach is to carefully check the official eligibility criteria of the specific university or entrance exam you are targeting, and if the wording is unclear, contact the admission office directly with your marksheets and syllabus details. This will give you a clear and final confirmation before you apply.

All the best for your future studies and admissions.
