Hello,
To clarify yes, an EWS certificate issued by your State Government like the Revenue Department of Telangana is valid for MCC counselling, if it follows the central EWS format as prescribed by the Government of India. For MCC NEET UG counselling you have to apply under the EWS category and you should must upload an EWS certificate issued by a competent authority, but it should be in the format prescribed by the Central Government.
Even though your certificate is issued by a state revenue department, it is still accepted as long as:It follows the central format, it is issued by a competent authority like Tahsildar/Revenue Officer, and it is issued for the current financial year 2024–25
So, you don’t need to get a separate central EWS certificate there’s no such thing as a separate central certificate. The confusion often arises because some state formats differ slightly, but the content and the income/assets criteria must match the central EWS norms. I also saw the same confusion in online forums, but official MCC guidelines make it clear that state-issued certificates are fine if they’re in the right format. You should double-check that your certificate mentions the correct income limit (8 lakh) and property rules.
During MCC registration, you must upload a scanned copy of the certificate and carry the original during document verification at the allotted college.
Wishing you all the best for your NEET counselling!
