see you did not mention the exam name, however I am assuming you have applied for manipal entrance test for b.tech admission. see cutoff score changes every year and it depends on some of the factors like number of applicants, questions difficulty level, seat matrix, students category and so on.

however 106 out of 240 is average score and have possible chances for chemical engineering, however it would be best to try for others entrance exam as well to make best chances for admission.
