With a NEET 2025 score of 420, getting MBBS in a government college in India is tough, but you might get BDS in some government colleges depending on your category and state. If you're open to studying MBBS abroad, it can be a good option, especially in countries like Russia, Georgia, or the Philippines. Just make sure the college is NMC-approved. Choose based on your budget, interest, and long-term goals. Both paths can lead to a good medical career.
Hello,
If you scored 420 in NEET 2025, then getting MBBS in a government college in India is quite difficult. But you might get BDS in a government college depending on your category and state quota.
Now, between MBBS from abroad and BDS in India , here’s a simple comparison:
MBBS abroad : You can become a doctor, but you will have to clear the FMGE exam after coming back to India to practise. Also, studying abroad can be expensive, and you must choose a good and approved college.
BDS in India : It's a government seat, so it will be much cheaper. But you will become a dentist, not a general doctor.
If you are very sure about becoming a doctor and your family can afford the cost of MBBS abroad, then go for it — but only in a good and recognised country like Russia, Georgia, Philippines, etc.
If you are okay with becoming a dentist and want a secure and affordable option in India, then BDS in a government college is a good choice.
Hope it helps !

Hello Sahil,
With a NEET 2025 score of 420, it is likely that you will have a very slim chance in getting MBBS in a government college in India, where the competition is fierce, especially for general category candidates, notwithstanding the factors of category and state quota. However, there is a legitimate chance of getting BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) in a government dental college under the 15% All India quota or under your state quota. If you are determined to take up MBBS, studying abroad is an option. Countries like Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, The Philippines, and Ukraine offer MBBS courses recognized by NMC (National Medical Commission) generally at a lower cost than the cost of private medical colleges in India. You will have to clear the FMGE/NExT exam if you want to practice in India with an MBBS degree after completing your studies abroad.
So, you should go with MBBS abroad if you are determined to become a doctor, or BDS in India if you are interested in becoming a dentist and are happy to study in the Indian education system.
