Hello Rijo, For being IPS Officer you can join any of the branch, you mentioned. Because for IPS graduation from any stream is required. As you said that you are interested in BA economics , you can join it. You have good enough marks in 12 th. Because for BA minimum 45  marks are required.

I hope it will help.

Thanks.

Hey,

It would be beneficial for you if you take BA Eco for the Civil Services Exam with 60% you will be able to get admission into BA and the Civil Services exam mainly includes Economics,  Geography, Political Science and History so you should better go with BA.

Hope you understand:)

Hello Rijo,

If you want to become an IPS officer, you will have to give the UPSC Civil Services exam once you graduate. The selection process has three stages - Preliminary, Mains and Interview.

You can give the UPSC Civil Services exam with a graduation in any discipline so B.A. Economics and B. Sc. Botony are both good options.

Since the exam has two parts, let us look at the syllabus for each of those:

In the Prelims,

The Paper 1 consists of questions regarding Indian History, Indian and World Geography, Indian Polity and Governance, Current Events, Social Issues, Economic and Social Development.

The Paper 2 has Comprehension, Communication Skills, Logical Reasoning, General Mental Ability and Basic Numeracy.

In the Mains,

The Paper 1 will consist of Comprehension, Writing, Usage and Vocabulary and Short Essay.

The Paper 2 will be conducted in your choice of subject where you can select Botony or Economics based on the degree you choose to pursue.

Hello apsirant,

You have a opted a good choice of career. First of all you have to choose the subjects according to your intermediate stream as you can pursue bsc botany only if you had studied science in class 12th. The second criteria of  ourse selection would depend on the subjects you want choose for optional exam in entrance exam of ips. And lastly everything depends on your interest you may choose any of the subjects. If you are interested in stuying economics you should go with it as biology gave you good marks may be because you were good with the syllabus. Its a suggestion , the ultimate choice is yours. Hope the information helps you.

Best of luck!!
