Diploma and Intermediate are two different studies and are totally different various exams have their eligibility criteria like in some of them exams only diploma candidates can apply, in some exams only intermediate students can only apply, whereas in some of the exams both can apply.So, it depends in the exam an its eligibility criteria.
Diploma candidates can apply for lateral entry examination.
