Hello,

No, you don't have to discontinue your BSc degree to appear in the JEE Mains exam. In JEE Mains you can appear while enrolled in another degree. But, if you qualify for the better college, then you can't resume your degree, and you have to discontinue your BSc degree and go for the B.Tech degree at the other college.

I hope it will clear your query!!

Hello student,

No, you do not have to discontinue your BSc degree to appear for JEE Main 2026.

As long as you are appearing for your Class 12 exams in 2026, or have passed them in 2024 or 2025, you are eligible to appear for JEE Main 2026.

Thank you!!

Good morning. No, you do not need to discontinue your B.Sc. degree to appear for the JEE (Joint Entrance Examination). However, there are some important points you must understand clearly:

JEE Eligibility Rules (For B.Sc. Students)

1. Educational Qualification:

You must have passed Class 12 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

If you're already in B.Sc. 2nd year, it means you've passed 12th — so you are educationally eligible.

2. Number of Attempts:

ExamAttempt LimitAttempt Years

JEE Main3 timesIn the year of 12th, and the next 2 consecutive years

JEE Advanced2 timesIn the year of 12th, and the next year only

For example  ,if you passed 12th in 2023, you can:

Give JEE Main in 2023, 2024, and 2025

Give JEE Advanced in 2023 and 2024 only

Hello Aspirant,

No, you don’t need to terminate your BSc degree to sit for JEE 2026. You can continue your BSc studies while preparing for JEE, as long you satisfy the eligibility criteria. Please remember that in order to get admission into IITs, the candidate has to have qualified Class 12 (or equivalent) in 2024 or 2025. You cannot be ineligible because you are taking a BSc degree, but passing year of Class 12 matters.

No, you don’t have to discontinue your B.Sc. just to give JEE 2026.

Eligibility for JEE Main: You can appear in JEE Main in the same year you pass Class 12 and the next two years (total 3 attempts).

Eligibility for JEE Advanced: You can appear only in the year you passed Class 12 and the next year (2 attempts in total).

Being a B.Sc. student doesn’t cancel your eligibility — but the year of your Class 12 pass-out is what matters.

No, you don’t have to discontinue your BSc degree to appear for JEE 2026. You can give JEE while continuing your BSc, as long as you meet the eligibility criteria mainly that you passed your Class 12 in 2024 or 2025. Just manage your time properly for preparation.
